Clara — the voice of the system

The phone, answered. Every time.

Clara is the AI call assistant inside DocAssistants. She answers the practice’s published number, verifies who is calling, books against real availability when the rules allow, and hands the rest to your staff with context.

Clara identifies herself as an automated assistant at the start of every call, and transfers to a person whenever a caller asks.

Rules

What she will not do.

  • Diagnose or give medical advice.
  • Promise that a refill is approved.
  • Read a chart before name, date of birth, and a callback number or MRN match.
  • Book a new patient unless the practice has turned that on.
  • Act as an emergency service. Crisis language gets 911/988 guidance and a staff handoff.

Composite workflow — not a customer testimonial. Identity check uses name, date of birth, and a callback number.

What Clara does

A capability of the system — not a separate product.

First-ring pickup

Every call answered immediately — concurrent calls, so a busy Monday morning is still answered.

Transfer on request

A caller who asks for a person is transferred. Clara does not argue with that request.

Identity before chart access

Clara verifies at least two matching factors before anything is read from a chart. A name alone is never enough.

Booking against real availability

Appointments are booked against your actual schedule and office rules. Clara does not invent availability.

Warm transfer with context

Anything non-standard goes to staff with the caller, the reason, and the relevant history attached.

Urgency detection

High-risk signals route to on-call staff and crisis resources. Urgent calls are not left in a voicemail pile.

The boundary

Clara is not an emergency or clinical service. In a crisis she directs callers to emergency resources and hands off to your team.Scope — enforced in the system, not the script
